Winter Warm-Up 2008

The War of the Mountain King

For time out of mind, the principalities of Dwaarvon and Gundar have lived a tenuous peace deep inside the mountains.  But when a dwarf falls from a great height, and it is ascertained that he was first struck by a goblin arrow, war breaks out.  Arkhelâus V of Dwaarvon and Sargrim II of Gundar are now each vying for the throne of the mountain, with the neutral gnomes just trying to survive in their remaining valley habitat.  And deep beneath a ruined city in the northwest of the range lurks a sinister force that none had reckoned upon.

You were accompanying an elvish diplomatic mission to the mountains; it was greatly in the economic and political favour of the elves that peace be sustained in the mountains.  But after a fall and a black out, you can remember little of why exactly you were here, and since the dwarves and goblins have shut the mighty gates of the mountain, you are stranded.

Dwarf Lord or Goblin Chief-who will ultimately claim dominion over the mountains?  But more importantly: which side will you be on?

WotMK is a text-based (not very Mac-like, I know...) Adventure/RPG game taking place in the vast underground network of mines and strongholds created by the dwarves and goblins, and will feature (hopefully) interactive conversations with NPCs, cut scenes, and an honor system that will allow a player to work for either side of the war...  Or both!

It is very possible that the challenge project will not be completed on time.  Personally, I'm not getting my hopes up.  My life's all of a sudden gotten very busy, so I won't have as much time as I would like to work on this game.  But I'm going to keep working on it until it's at least in my opinion finished.

If anyone would like to contribute to the game (maybe help with the opening cut scene:), it would be greatly appreciated.  E-Mail me here.
